Pizza (Italian: [ˈpittsa], Neapolitan: [ˈpittsə]) is a savory dish of Italian origin consisting of a usually round, flattened base of leavened wheat-based dough topped with tomatoes, cheese, and often various other ingredients (such as anchovies, mushrooms, onions, olives, pineapple, meat, etc.), which is then baked at a high temperature, traditionally in a wood-fired oven.
Traditionally, Pizza is often considered to be a savory food made into a round shape and cut into wedges for serving. However, as foods change, Pizza has evolved to be formed into round, rectangular and square shapes with a wide variety of ingredients being used to make the toppings for the baked crust. Sweet pizzas are often served for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dessert, or as an appetizer while the savory varieties are most often served for lunch, dinner, or as a snack.
When reheating previously cooked Pizza, preheat the oven to 350ºF to 400ºF. While waiting for the oven to heat, cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the pieces of Pizza on the parchment paper. When ready, place the pizza in the oven and as it cooks, the paper will absorb the moisture in the crust, resulting in a crispier textured crust.
INGREDIENTS
For pizza dough:
½ cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp dry yeast
2 cups maida / plain flour / all-purpose flour
salt to taste
3 tbsp olive oil
water as required (to knead)
For toppings
3 tbsp pizza sauce
1 cup diced panner
5 mushrooms (thinly sliced)
¼ cup capsicum (roughly chopped)
9 pickled jalapeños (based on spice level)
¼ cup black olives (chopped)
½ cup mozzarella cheese (grated)
½ tsp oregano / italian seasonings / mixed herbs
PREPARATION
firstly, in a large mixing bowl take warm water, sugar and dry yeast and give a quick mix.
allow it to rest for 5 minutes.
now add maida, salt and olive oil.
knead the dough adding water as required.
tuck the dough and form to a ball. place in a large mixing bowl.
cover rest and rise in a warm place for about 2 hours.
punch the dough with fist to release down the air.
For Baking
place the dough on dusted pizza plate or tray.
flatten the dough by stretching with both hands.
further, leaving a cm or more and create a dent,then prick with centre of dough with the help of fork.furthermore, spread pizza sauce generously leaving the sides slightly.also top with topping of choice,then spread grated cheese and sprinkle italian seasonings.
further, bake at 500 degrees fahrenheit for about 12 - 15 minutes.
